2010 miniMarathon

The 2010 Mini-Marathon in Louisville is history... but the memories will live on.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.

Dave, glad you finished your 1st mini. I ran a 2 hours 33 minutes. Slow but I might have been faster if i hadn’t been running backwards! Just kidding. Hope you get out of the wheelchair soon. I know all about wheelchairs. I had signed up to run with Southeast but have been out of town so much I missed a lot. Take care.

Next year you should use your “very difficult and efficent training method” for 2 days so you can run the full Marathon. I liked the wheelchair at the end that was a nice touch. Jokes aside, I’m motivated by your efforts to be so physically fit to be able to complete a mini. I didn’t and wouldn’t have even tried without a much longer training method.

Great finish Dave! Did the turn off of River Road onto Witherspoon AWAY from the finish line and BACK UP THE HILL at 1st street mentally devastate you as bad as me? Anyone else? That was cruel and unusual punishment!

Great job Dave.  That is pretty impressive for two days of training.  I ran the mini for the first time this year in 2 hours 3 minutes. I am not a runner and don’t really like to run at all (even though my husband is an amazing cross country and track coach!)but for some reason I signed up to run 13.1 miles.  I listened to Kyle’s Not a Fan series during the race.  It was the energy boost I needed for that race and for the greater race. What an accomplishment and great feeling after finishing!!

Way to go Dave! Completing the race after your three day training is quite impressive! Any time I run the ONLY way I get through it is with my complete focus on the Lord. I didn’t run the marathon, but if I had I am envisioning an impressive time of 3hours and 32 mins! ha! Your sermon on JOY really spoke to me. Most people would consider me a very joyful person so I never truly focused on this fruit, but I know there is always room for growth and I have found such EXTRA Joy in my life since your message! You are great Dave and cant wait until next week .... but I must have PATIENCE!!!!! smile

Way to go. It’s a good thing I am starting my training now since I’ll be running my first half in September! I’m so excited… and nervous. You’re a great sport!

Great job Dave!!  I ran w/S.E. running group and trained exspecting to set a new personal record this year.  However, a week before the race I fell off my porch and sprained my ankle very bad!!  I wasn’t going to let that stop me!!  My Dad (a Boston marathon runner) was going 2 run with me this year on top of all that!! Going into the track something bad went so worse with my ankle!!  To make a long story short I got some great pics at the finish line of me lifting my hands to God. Then just after the finish line you see my dad holding me up!!!  lol It was great!!

Hi Dave- just reading this for the first time (4 months later!) so not sure if you’ll ever see this comment…but I watched your mini marathon video and at the finish line when you’re talking to the camera I walk right by in the background in my white shirt and yellow visor (looking like death warmed over)!  I knew from your sermon that weekend that we had started and finished around the exact same time.  My first as well.  Great job, if I do say so myself! smile Keep up the great work.
